Peace Garden

Visit with Mary and listen to God from the depth of your heart.

All are invited to sit with Mary in the garden to pray, meditate, or silently reflect.  You can also simply enjoy the quiet and the beauty of the surrounding area which blooms from spring through fall.

The Peace Garden is located between the Catholic Charities building and the parking lot.

After the tragedies of 9/11, the concept of a peace garden was created.  Fundraising was undertaken and a committee was formed.  In 2004, site drawings were completed.  A mural was designed and painted by two St. Anne School students; and, the Peace Pole was installed and blessed by Bishop Kevin Rhoads during his visit on April 11, 2005.  Between 2005-2009, excavating, digging and construction of the grotto and brick pillars, and installation of fencing  took place.  Beautiful flowers from the gardens of our school and parish families were planted throughout the garden.  In 2009, the Peace Garden and Grotto were dedicated.

The following Marian flowers can be found in the garden:

Lily of the Valley - Our Lady's Tears
Roses - Emblem of Mary
Forget Me Nots - Eyes of Mary
Columbine - Mary's Shoes
Peonies - Mary's Rose
Daisies - Our Lady's Flower
Snowdrops - Candlemas Bells
Violets - Our Lady's Modesty
Iris - Mary's Sword of Sorrow
White Lily - Madonna Lily
